Ooty :India's Zurich ....

Its been quite a while since I wrote my last post (was busy solving the dilemma of my life- choosing between colleges !!!!)...but not much has changed since then...for eg . we still have not got our stipend :P ..anyways I'll crib about tht some other time ..this post is about my trip to this amazingly beautiful place "Ooty "....So lets get started ...

I am generally not a travel enthusiast but god knows how I mustered courage to take up this weekend trip to Ooty ! but having been there i really feel nice about having made tht decision ...We left in a TN state bus on friday night (which meant a heavy dose of tamil movie and songs :P)...as soon as we reached v went hunting for a hotel and finally found one thanks to a "Broker " who had caught us the moment we landed in Ooty !....v got ready and were about to leave for Coonoor ..now the amazingly awesome ppl tht we are ....we forgot to bring a cam from Bangalore !!So we decided that 2 of us would go get the tickets done for the train (Lamba bhaiya and somani ) and the rest (myself and deepak bhaiya ) will hire a cam ....we had little time ...rushed in a hurry to the shop ..got the cam... put the data card ..all in a hurry and had to rush to the railway station to catch the toy train true DDLJ style ..and our journey to India's Zurich began .......

Proud tht we made it in time ..we were trying to explain it to the other 2 how herculian an effort it was to get tht done in such a short time :):)..unfortunately though ...the moment we switched the camera ..it showed an error "Card cannot be formatted " ....wht @#$$% .....and tht spoilt the mood .. not for too long though ...the view from the window made us forget evrything and thnkfully we had Deepak bhaiya's mobile cam to capture it ....The journey in the train was amazing .....beautiful landscapes, lots of greenary, the beautiful sunshine ...evrything was looking just gr8.

Finally we reached Coonoor at arnd 1 . We hired a taxi and he took us to the tea gardens first ..these are owned by the bollywood actress Mumtaz ...some 3500 acres of tea estate as the driver mentioned .Very neatly laid out and have been used for shooting of lots of movies ..saajan (tumse milne ki tamanna hain song ),JJWS(aamir khan in pehla nasha ) and others ....next we saw this rock(supposedly on the border of Karnatka and TN) popularly known as "The Sleeping Lady " among the locals.. ..there were lots of shops selling spices, tea and chocolates on the way ...we dropped by at few of them for some "Shopping"!..Finally towards the end of day one we went to SIM's park ( must say a very well maintained park )

Day 2: While the driver on day 1 sucked.... this one was a pretty friendly guy ..had an awesum play list tht suited the journey ...played oldies including Baazigar ,Saajan, Dilwale.... It almost looked as the songs were just made for the occasion ...Started off with the visit to pine forest ..we had to go down slope till we finally saw this amazingly amazingly beautiful place.....the location reminded me of the song in Veer Zaara(Yeh hum aa gaye hain kaha .... I cud almost see myself in Shahrukh's place :P )......

Next we went to a "Pahadi " which gave us a breathtaking view of the surroundings .In the afternoon we went first for motor boating and then for paddle boating ....the views this time looked similar to those in Kaho Na Pyaar Hain when Hrithik and Amisha were stranded on an island !

As we left this place to see the highest peak in the Nilgiri range it strted raining .....and the playlist now changed from Baazigar and Dilwale to Haule Haule and Ghajini ...by the time we reached it had stopped raining and needless to say evrything felt so fresh ...from the top one cud see Ooty on one side where it was still raining and Coonoor on the other where the sun was shining bright ...Awesum Awesum View !!

Finally in the evening in the last leg of our journey we visited the botanical garden ....lots and lots of varieties of flowers and trees ...few plants were also being cultivated in a green house ...
Had the 9:30 bus to Bangalore and reached here at 6 .To sum it up a really great experience ..more than anything else the place is really really beautiful (and the "Ooty special chocolates" also taste good:) )... I guess for those of you who have not been there should seriously think about going there once .

Cheers ,
Yours Truly

PS: After reading this post if possible go and listen to tht song from "Veer Zaara " I am sure u'll feel wht I have tried to describe here :)
